Woolenwick in Journals

This diary seeks to tell the story of our school and the wider Stevenage community in lockdown, March 2020 – March 2021. It captures first hand experiences to reflect the lives of our school community during the COVID-19 pandemic. This record will ensure that future generations will be able to learn about and understand this extraordinary period.

Co-ordinated by Woolenwick Infant and Nursery School, Arc of Hope is a collaboration aiming to bring the community together, circumventing isolation during the lockdown imposed by Government because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

During lockdown, keyworker children noticed the plants growing through the cracks in the concrete in the playground. These wonderful weeds had been able to flourish because the grounds contractors had been furloughed.

Diversity Squared – What’s Your Story? explored immigration and a sense of belonging by examining the rich variety of people who come to Stevenage town square.
